Find Your Inner Path to Beauty – Skin Care Through Diet

You know, better than anyone how true it is that what passes through the lips seems to linger forever on the hips. But, did you know that these same foods may also be the reason behind your wrinkles? Gone are the days when we believe without doubt that wrinkles are just a right of passage that we must all endure when aging. We are learning more and more about the body and its largest organ – the skin. One thing we have learned is that the foods we eat, impact the health of our skin.

But wait, the news just keeps getting better. Not only can we cause the damage by what we’ve been eating but food also provides the solution to the problems as well. You read that right. The foods you eat can actually work to reverse the signs of aging—as long as you are eating the right foods.

So, what are these super foods and where can you get them? Right? Chances are you can get them at your local whole food or health food store. Supermarket chains are beginning to add many of these foods to their stocks in larger cities but you may need to make a drive to get them in you live in a smaller town or community. The benefits are well worth driving a little bit though.

The superfoods you will likely be able to find in your local supermarket include the following: garlic, onions, beans and lentils, hot peppers, nuts, seeds, and yogurt. You may need to find a specialty foods store in order to find some of these ingredients depending on the grocery stores in your immediate are: Kefir, sprouts, acai, wheat grass, barley, buckwheat, and blue green algae.

Of course these are not the only foods that you can add to your diet for amazing skin healing benefits but adding these will make a difference that is as noticeable as night and day. For slower results that are still impressive in their own rights you can make changes in your diet that include lowering your GI (glycemic index) intake. Eating a high protein diet that is supplemented with foods that are rich in filling and nutritious, complex carbohydrates and that rate low on the glycemic index is a sure path to more beautiful, younger looking skin. You should also eliminate refined sugars and foods that range high on the GI scale. Doing this helps keep insulin levels stable and reduces inflammation. To really make a splash be sure to include some Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids in your diet as well.

Changes in your diet can seem like a huge sacrifice to make for younger skin. However, the results are much more lasting than any products you will find in a bottle and your waistline may enjoy the benefit of these changes just as much as your skin is able to. It’s really hard to argue with benefits like these.
